Before I move on to Paris I wanted to show you the very cool, completely functional windmill I toured in Rotterdam. You could even buy the milled flour in the windmill store.

den haag

den haag (the hague) was cool, but i arrived on the day my bike went missing so my mood was pissy. There was, however, flea markets
espresso trucks
castles
churches
and a cool library to keep me smiling.

frisbee

it's late in the game but we got a frisbee and we played. it was so fun, except for when my elbow and knee collided resulting in some pain and hobbling.

The most wonderful library in the world

DOK Library Concept Center, in Delft, rivals Disneyland as the happiest place in the world. Amazing innovation and fun hardworking people abound here. I've found my dream workplace. The children's librarian was awesome and there's an art lending program. So cool.

kinderdijk to canal

Six of my cohorts and I rode 25 kilometers to the windmills of Kinderdijk. First things first we dipped our toes in the canal (toes not pictured),
viewed the windmills,
rode home and promptly jumped in the canal.

i had a marvelous time this weekend pedaling to utrecht whilst listening to hejira:
thanks to the scenery,
the ladies,
and the city itself.

delft is a beautiful old city and the bicycle ride there is beyond quaint.

down time

not every day can be 'discover a new corner of holland day.' i'm tired and it's windy / cold outside so i'm holed up in my room taking funny face self-portraits and browsing my new favorite blog: yard sale bloodbath.
