damn bugs
last night i was awoken to a tiny scampering across my face. i responded as any person would, with a combination of swatting and out of bed jumping screams. apparently i pissed off the little scampering creature as he took a bite out of my shoulder and buzzed away. what was it? i wondered as i fell back to sleep, horsefly, bee, hornet...zzzz.
my anonymous enemy returned around the same time the alarm clock was slated to go off to answer my question, revealing himself as
a damn wasp.
i am left to wonder how he found his way into my bedroom and why i have been cursed with so many stings this year. the last, of course, was at lake chelan. a bee flew up my pajamas and nailed me on my calf. ouch.

blurry baby in a bowl
we had henry, my favorite small person, and his parents over for dinner last night for a marvelously dressed salad and fancy grilled cheese sandwiches.
here you will see that henry discovered the wonders of the copper candy bowl. he was a charming guest even though throughout the evening he adamantly repeated this mantra, "i no like friends."
still, i got this sweet auntie em photo out of him,
and this lovely bouquet from his mother.
