naive memory

hey guys. team we is getting married soon. when i saw this over at { high and low and lovely } i got a big love surge because this one is at the top of the "our" songs list. in fact we've been thinking about using this ditty for our first dance. it might be a half a skip between too fast and too slow for our purposes, but if we could come up with some good moves i'd do it.

also we've been getting reply cards along with some great, and some questionable, song requests. Check it out:

Ain't Nobody - Chaka Khan
Wouldn't It Be Nice - Beach Boys
Misty
Johnny B. Goode - Chuck Berry
Time of My Life - From Dirty Dancing
Eternal Flame - The Bangles
I Want You to Want Me - Cheap Trick
Standing on the Verge of Getting it on - ?
I Believe (When I fall in love) - Stevie Wonder
Hotel California - The Eagles
In My Life - The Beatles
Shake a Tail Feather - Ray Charles
Anything from Ocean's 12 or 13 soundtrack

Keep 'em coming and we'll keep working on our dance moves.

vote for the small, cool turkey!

to my surprise and delight apartment therapy increased their size limit for the small is cool 2008 challenge . that means that our spacious palace is deemed tiny enough for another contest! i am posting to shamelessly solicit your vote.

but wait, there's a hitch, apartment therapy is one of those sites where you have to register in order to cast your ballot. i can tell you right now that a vote for the turkey is a vote for a brighter future. so go on and login. shake your tail feather while you're at it, that will make our world better too.

confidential to commenters: if we win, we'll certainly use our room and board prize money to buy a new rug for under the dining room table. cheers!

also, contrary to the title of our submission, i know that i live hear with kirk. he is the best and cleanest roommate ever so how could i forget?

you can tell everybody this is your song

best wedding toast ever!

this toast is sweet and heartfelt and wonderful and would make any girl feel loved beyond her wildest dreams. see it to believe it. ) video is in the left column).

Mr. Movie Man Visit #345

I'm back at my old desk today and wouldn't you know it, Mr. Movie Man stopped by, proclaiming that it had been six months since our last visit. It has been closer to a year and a half by my approximation.

He said he liked No Country for Old Men. He then turned and walked away. It's good to know that I'm not forgotten.

Cherry Blossoms, Snowflakes and Information People, Oh My!

Last Friday I attended an admitted students day at the Information School. The cherry blossoms were in full bloom and big, soft snowflakes danced in the sky.

I fell in love with the building, the like-minded community of thinkers and recyclers, and with finding my people. You know the kind, the ones who provide information you didn't even think you needed, but made getting what you wanted easier and maybe even fun.

One of the highlights was a mock class with Dr. Joseph Janes, whose enthusiasm for information, his work and the school was contagious. I walked out of that classroom feeling exuberant, thrilled and grateful that my days will be full of such activities. Goodbye desk, and everyday the same. Hello, hard, good work and lots of change.
