Arnhem, the Dutch Desert and a rainbow

any park that has a museum, free bicycle use and a hunting lodge with a crazy clock tower is fine by me.

Pannenkoekenboot

we went on a pancake cruise and saw the rotterdam harbor and ate some pretty mediocre pancakes. luckily this lovely, shackled mermaid made the trip worthwhile.

day 2: amsterdam walking

i walked everywhere today and i came across some wonderful things. there was an opera singer performing on one of the canals and people came from all over on boat, bicycle and foot to see it:
I continued on to the wonderful bibliotheek amsterdam and stumbled upon many wonderful things - of which i will dedicate a post to later - including this study vessel:
and then it was night and i was still walking and the city was magical:

day 2: amsterdam morning

woke up:
got up:
pulled up the shade:
walked down these stairs (when i arrived with my larger than necessary bag, Marcel welcomed me from the top step and said, "i cannot help you with that").
and opened the door:
(amsterdam afternoon to follow).

day 1: amsterdam landing

obersvation #1: the dutch really love to watch planes land. all along the runway there were benches with people sitting on them and i saw at least three folks taking photographs of the airfield / our plane as it landed.
observation #2: marcel van woerkom, is a consumate host and has a lovely home. i sunk right into my bed (sans black fur) for an afternoon nap.
observation #3: this city is beautiful.

observation #5: this kitten charmed me. as i ate my falafel she climbed up on the handrails of the bicycles to the right of this shot. she reminded me of a kitten named biscotina that i befriended on my first trip abroad in san marzano olivetto italy.

look who's cooking for dinner 2

the cooking trend continues here at chez we. we exceeded our goal and made two recipes from scratch. the sprng salad was easy peasy and super delicious. the lentil stir fry was time consuming and the flavoring was minimal so if you take it on i would advise making a large quantity of the mint sauce.

vietnamese spring salad

almond lentil stir fry

off to travel. who knows if i will blog (also who cares?). happy summer.

here here.

“FEMINISM is not a dirty word. It does not mean you hate men, it does not mean you hate girls that have nice legs and a tan, and it does not mean you are a ‘bitch’ or ‘dyke’, it means you believe in equality” - Kate Nash
That's all . Now I will return to punching it out for the F-word.

i found this on a cup of jo.

look who's cooking for dinner

team we cooks. we really do, but until two weeks ago we had never followed a recipe together. our first meal was chana masala and we were so delighted with our culinary capabilities that we ate it all up and forgot to memorialize the occassion with photographs. this week we made paprika and roasted red pepper pita appetizers and broccoli pasta with red pepper flakes. it was really yummy and we impressed ourselves again. plus we had fun. see:

love shack style

we want to build a love shack in the backyard as an outdoor space / mild weather guest room. here is our current inspiration:

the structure will be 10 x 10 t0 10 x 12, which design shall we pursue?
