the adventures of moxie, librarian
tomorrow i will embark on my great library adventure. i'm going to treat this experience like i'm a superhero in training. when i graduate i'll get a cape that reads MOXIE, LIBRARIAN and bring information power to people everywhere.
so excited!
project of the week: yoga mat bag
materials: the same old ikea duvet cover from the ironing board slipcover project.
tools: sewing machine, good scissors, good pattern.
references: i used amy butler's downloadable nigella yoga bag pattern and followed it semi-closely. ms. butler has many marvelous free patterns available. take a peek if you are ever in the mood for a sunday afternoon sewing project.
outcome: positive.
bonus: i especially like the pocket for carrying love notes from your sweetheart, keys, wallet, bus pass, or whatever.
now excuse me, i'm off to do some yoga. namaste.

National Park(ing) Day
i was happy to stumble upon the news that this friday, september 19th is national park(ing) day, because i love parks and other urban sanctuaries.
the idea formed in 2005 when rebar, a group of artists, designers and activists based in San Francisco sought to re-purpose a metered parking space for public recreational activity. their goal was to expand the public realm and improve the quality of urban human habitat.
it is now an annual event with more than 75 cities participating.
stop by to lend a hand or just stroll through a park (ing) space in your neighborhood.

above, colin and jack play croquet. i loved seeing the kids enjoying themselves. they were also enamored with the diy self portrait area and bubbles.
